Unfortunately, users can run into problem trying to download our software from our website and with installing it. 

If you are running into problems downloading the software, it may be your browser being overzealous.  They can scaremonger you with their messages, making you think that the software may be infected, when that is not the case.  They don't actually scan the files that you are downloading for viruses, adware and malware.  They go off of the software's "reputation".  Essentially, the more people downloading a particular app gives a better reputation than an app that isn't as frequently downloaded.  All of our software apps are made for a small niche market.  As such, there are not hundreds of thousands of users downloading the software, to give it a better "reputation".

On the operating system side, Microsoft and Apple, try to force software companies to list their apps in their online stores.  This is under the guise of providing you with apps that they deem are "safe".  Well, the truth of the matter is that they have a big financial motivation to get apps into their stores.  They take 15% - 30% of the software's sale, off the top, just to host the app.  You can still install apps that don't come from their stores, but they make hurdles that software companies have to jump through.  Buying a code signing certificate to digitally sign the software, to say that we really are who we say we are, for one.  With Apple, there is also an annual Developer ID that must be purchased.  They default their operating systems to not allow apps that did not come from their app store.  Could we just give in and put our software in their stores?  Sure, but that would actually require more labor on our part to submit our apps for their evaluation and any bug fixing that we do starts the process all over again.  We'd also have to boost the cost of the software to make up for their "take".

You may get messages like these:

  • "Windows protected your PC"
  • "The app that you're trying to install isn't a Microsoft verified app"
  • "(App name) cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified."
  • "macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware."

Does that mean that our software is infected with malware?  Absolutely not!  Again, it is a "pay to play" game with these behemoths.  We have been in business for over 20 years (since October 2002) and have a great reputation in this market.  We do scan our computers and website on a regular basis and do digitally sign our software with a code signing certificate.  We do not allow anyone else to offer our software for download.  Never download our software from any site other than ours.

Download Issue:

  • Chrome Browser:  With Chrome, you can do a one time exclusion or go as far as turning off that feature altogether.  Refer to this YouTube video.
  • Microsoft Edge Browser:  The browser may download the software, but you may get a message like "blocked because it could harm your device" and the file ends up with a "crdownload" extension instead of "exe".  Refer to this YouTube video for the workaround.  However, we would be grateful if you could click on the "Report this app as safe" option.

Can I install the software to more than one computer?

Can I install the software to more than one computer?

The software license allows the license holder to install the software on up to two computers at any given time.  This is not a lifetime limit, just a concurrent limit.  This allows the licensee to have the software on a race computer and a backup computer or a race computer and a check-in computer.

Note:  The software is only to be used by the licensee.  For an organization, that would be an official representative of the organization.  For an individual, that would be only that individual.

All of our software, except DerbyWeb, you can demo.  Just download the software from our Downloads page.  It will act as a demo until you purchase a license and enter a serial number to unlock all of the features.  Of course, a demo will have some limitations to it.

Will your software run on 64 bit versions of Windows?

Yes, all of our software packages will run on 64 bit versions of Windows.

No.  That operating system is not supported.  Refer to the Requirements tab on the information page for the particular software that you are interested in for the supported operating systems.

The following products currently have support for macOS (10.12 and above):

  • GrandPrix Race Manager - Versions 17.0 and above
  • DerbyDMV - Versions 9.0 and above
  • RaceFX - Versions 8.0 and above

Other software packages will follow.

For our other software packages and older versions of the above software packages, users have been able to successfully use our software on a Mac which is setup to run Windows programs via Bootcamp, Parallels, VMWare Fusion, or other emulator. However, we don't make any guarantees as to how well it will run.

No.  That operating system is not supported.  Refer to the Requirements tab on the information page for the particular software that you are interested in for the supported operating systems.

Will your software run on a tablet?

No.  Tablets are not suitable for running a Pinewood Derby style race.  They do not support connecting to a timing system and an external monitor, which you need for running a race.

If you are using a monitor with very high resolution on Microsoft Windows, things may look tiny.

To correct this, please do the following:

  1. Do a right mouse click over the software’s shortcut icon
  2. Select “Properties” from that popup menu
  3. Go to the “Compatibility” tab
  4. Click on the “Change high DPI settings” button
  5. Check the “Override high DPI scaling behavior” box.
  6. For "Scaling performed by" select "System"
  7. Click on the “OK” button
  8. Click on the “Apply” button
  9. Click on the “OK” button
